The Sarabite: Towards an Aesthetic Christianity

There is a continuous attraction, beginning with God, going to the world, and ending at last with God, an attraction which returns to the same place where it began as though in a kind of circle. -Marsilio Ficino

The great thing about nortena music is that it can be so beautiful, cheesy, tacky, and sublime all in the same song. That's just Mexican life, and that is the aesthetic towards which this blog strives.

The two songs I have posted give a valuable lesson: love hurts, and hurts a lot. Even in fits of ecstasy, we are crushed by its sheer weight.

Vivo sin vivir en mi
Y de tal manera espero,
Que muero porque no muero.
