The Sarabite: Towards an Aesthetic Christianity

There is a continuous attraction, beginning with God, going to the world, and ending at last with God, an attraction which returns to the same place where it began as though in a kind of circle. -Marsilio Ficino

Boycott

I was going to post something interesting today, but I decided not to. As the son of immigrants, a grandson of immigrants, a neighbor of immigrants, and a friend of many immigrants (both legal and "illegal"- what a monstrous term!), I am just as affected as them by all of the immigrant bashing. So if you enjoy this blog and still persist in thinking that the "brown horde" coming from the south is the enemy, be aware that I am a card-carrying member of the Horde.

So I won't post anything today...... Alright, maybe just one thing:

El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!
El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!

De pie cantar, que vamos a triunfar,
avanzan ya banderas de unidad
y tú vendrás marchando junto a mi
y así verás tu canto y tu bandera
al florecer. La luz de un rojo amanecer
anuncia ya la vida que vendrá,
De pie marchar, que el pueblo va a triunfar;
será mejor la vida que vendrá,
A conquistar nuestra felicidad
y en su clamor mil voces de combate se alzaran;
dirán canción de libertad.
Con decisión la patria vencerá.
Y ahora el pueblo que se alza en la lucha
con voz de gigante gritando; adelante!

El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!
El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!

Unfortunately, I had to go to school today to take a final and to finish a project. I feel bad about this because as a card carrying member of the brown horde (which is ruining this country through its hard work ethic) my heart is with these true Americans (I am not proud to be a norteamericano, more proud of being decended of hard workers from Mexico). Although they take a lot of abuse, and they are doing probrably the most democratic thing any member of a democracy can do, that is to take to the streets and to be heard. For a lot of Americans these people are invisible, although they feed this country with their labor and help build it and dare I say die for it in Iraq and Afghanistan (although they are dying for the rich). They are doing their patriotic [sic] duty while middle class students who support this God-forsaken war party it up with their business degrees and frat parties. Yes, the United States is full of hypocrits. These immigrants are the most civic minded people in this country and a lot of them don't have a high school education. Although, I dare say schools are better in Latin America anyways; Imperialism just rapes their countries of their wealth.
While the rest of the American population languishes in misery with low wages and job insecurity, these people who are not traditional members of the American "democray" show how democracy works. I hope this inspires others in this miserable country to fight for a better future. Que viva la lucha.

I just hope that the last poster examines his conscience and see if his comment is worthy of the name "Christian".

Also, I of course realize the irony of the comment. That is why I posted it.

If a starving person steals a loaf of bread, he may break a human law, but he does not break a divine law.

If a person has a choice between having their children live in squalor and getting up and taking them to a land where he can work and give them a better life, he commits no crime no matter what the circumstances of his migration.

Learn some moral theology!
